Plateau de Sault and Ax-les-Thermes are about 80km Without question one of the most scenic journeys to be had so close to Limoux. Drive south to Quillan turning right at the first set of traffic lights onto the D117. After 5km turn left onto the D613 for Coudons up onto the Plateau de Sault. Continue along this road through Belcaire and the village of Prades (not to be confused with the larger town of Prades) ultimately to Ax-les-Thermes. Ax is quite a substantial town with a Ski station and worthy of a few hours stay to picnic by the river, a significant attraction which merits a leisurely walk along its banks. The same route home provides more fabulous views.
