Several resorts are available along the D118 road beyond Quillan. In order they are in Mijanes, Puyvalador and Formigueres having basic facilities.
Les Angles and Mont Louis, both ski villages with much more to offer, take a look at www.lesangles.com
Depending upon the time of year and snowfall then the closer you get to Mont Louis the higher up you are and the greater the chance of finding snow on the slopes.
Font Romeu and Andorra are even further and higher still, probably too far for casual skiing.
Please visit website for costs. Remember Ski clothing will also be required.
Golf
Golf, Le Domaine d Auriac ****, Carcassonne.
Open to non members, it is located on the right hand side of the D104 when traveling from St Hilaire and Carcassonne and about 5 minutes away from the famous medieval walled city "La Cite" at Carcassonne.
The sign at the entrance is waist high, quite small and easily missed.
Green fees vary depending upon the season. Visit www.domaine-d-auric.com
Swimming
There is a large, new swimming pool in Limoux, and a smaller one at Alet le Bains just a few kilometers away.
Beware males over three years old have to wear speedo type swimming trunks, swimming shorts are only allowed below three years of age.
Walking
There is virtually unlimited walking, just drive around and stop wherever it looks good and go walkabout.
Its probably best to keep out of the woods in the wild boar hunting season, the hunters (I am told) are more dangerous than the boars and there are usually several fatalities during a season.
Cycling.
Bicycle hire is available at Naurouze watershed for rides along the Canal du Midi. More details to follow
