Postcards from Lourdes

Information on Lourdes to be added to this guide
  04/06/20

Lourdes is 170km from Limoux, 2 hours each way by motorway via Toulouse.
Whatever your beliefs this is an opportunity to visit one of the worlds most significant religious sites.

Lourdes is where the young girl Bernadette Soubirous is said to have performed several miracles, each one of which was subsequently confirmed by the church, and celebrated with the construction of the Holy Sanctuary.
Pilgrims from all around the world, many of them disabled, travel to Lourdes to participate in the special services which are held there.

For those wishing to visit Lourdes, it is a pleasant journey with a very relaxed atmosphere in the town and within the grounds of the Sanctuary. Despite its popularity access to the Sanctuary and parking close by are quite easy.
Everything is available to see and experience throughout the year although in peak periods you may have to wait in line to touch the stone wall at the site of the first miracle or to gather water to cleanse your face.
Off peak you will almost certainly have the place to yourself.
It's too good to miss, you will not regret it.
