Trebes which is 25km from Limoux just oozes character.

The River Aude and the Canal du Midi run side by side through the centre of town complementing, and contrasting each other. Without doubt the place to have a leisurely stroll or picnic on a sunny day. A short walk along the canal you can watch the boats navigate three successive locks.
Designed and built 350 years ago to simultaneously take boats up and down in height, these locks are a testament to good old fashioned engineering.

Access to the town centre is good with free parking in front of the river and along the side of the canal almost as far as the locks.

If you have the time go home via Lagrasse, you will not be disappointed.
