Welcome to 2024 and the exciting nineteenth holiday season for Maison-Limoux.

The last few years have seen a few changes at Maison-Limoux, with some improvements that are largely unseen. The installation of additional insulation in the roof, was one of the changes made to the property. This was carried out without altering the high beam appearance in the lounge. 2023 also finally saw the start of the Chambre D'Hote service and welcomed over 20 guests, who all went away happy. They were especially pleased with the complimentary breakfast. We have also welcomed several repeat customers for the house rental, which is always gratifying along with new guests.
The internet/wifi system has been updated to Fibre and is clocked at 450MBS per second.

The Property
This modern home which sleeps 8 is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque town of Limoux which sits aside the Aude River and is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, close to Carcassonne.

Accommodation Details

The home which is built into a bank is on several half levels (3 to 6 steps between levels)and is entered by the front door which is on the side reached by a few outdoor steps.

Entrance Floor consists of the Kitchen and Lounge/Diner. Stairways lead up to two of the bedrooms and the main Bathroom (Shower). Steps also lead down to the other two bedrooms and the second Bathroom (Shower). One further stairway leads to the top room which is furnished as a twin room.

Bedrooms. These are all of a good size and furnished to a high standard. Rental includes all bed linen and towels and each bedroom has a large built in wardrobe.

The Kitchen has recently been refurbished and is fully functional and contains everything you need to prepare and serve meals or drinks. Leading off the kitchen is a balcony at the front of the house and plans are being prepared to extend this area into a breakfast area as it looks out towards the rolling hills.

The Lounge has comfortable leather settees and there is a LED Smart TV/DVD setup with which you can view French TV, DVDs, YouTube, Netflix etc. There is also a large & wide range of DVDs available for guest entertainment. The Lounge also contains a wood burning stove set into the fireplace, which is the hub for the radiator central heating system.

Internet & Phone. Wireless Fibre Broadband is available at the house. The telephone is for incoming calls and emergency use only.

The Patio. The garden/patio area extends all around the home and the property is fenced/screened from adjacent properties. Garden furniture including a barbeque is available for use on the patio. These are stored undercover at the side of the house.

The Sun Deck. Leading off one of the double rooms the Sun Deck is an ideal place to catch the early morning sun as you ease into the day. This sun deck is accessible from the outside too.

Utilities. A Washing Machine is available for guest use. Instructions in use are in the Guest Manual but Programme 2 for a light wash and programme 5 for a quick wash is all you really need to know. There are always washing tablets/liquid available, so one less thing to worry about.

Extra Items. The house contains other additional items to make your travel and stay as comfortable as possible so NO NEED to bring a Hairdryer (3 of), Travel Iron there is a good Iron & Ironing Board already there, although we do ask you to bring your own beach towels if you are planning to go to the beach. They can be purchased locally if required.

Baby Bed & High Chair. There is a baby cot for real small guests. There is also a baby buggy and high chair available. PLEASE CHECK ITEMS BEFORE USE as they may have been damaged by previous guests. Please specify requirement at time of booking.

Bienvenue Limoux.
Limoux is a thriving local community and the majority of the homes in the area are owned by people who live and work in the area. Throughout the year there are festivals of all kinds which are run for the entertainment of the locals rather than being outright tourist attractions. In the main there is no charge and no contributions for all these events apart from taking part and enjoying them.

You can expect the warmest of welcomes wherever you go, and you will find simple politeness goes a long way here.

There are a couple of phrase books in the house please return them after use.

The town boasts a number of good restaurants as well as large selection of Café bars. The wide choice of shops mean you do not have to leave the town for any reason but then you would miss everything that this amazing area has to offer.

If you like sparkling wine try the Blanquette Limoux everyone who visits say how much they like it. To set you on the right path you will find a complimentary bottle awaiting you in the fridge. Santé! (Health)

There are three Supermarkets on the outskirts of town L'Clerc on the road towards Carcassonne and Super U & Lidl on the road towards Quillen & Perpignan. All are generally open until 7pm. If you have never visited a supermarket in France before you will be amazed as the range is extensive, the products are fresh and the smell of good wholesome food is something, which is sadly no longer available in UK Supermarkets.

Alternatively use the variety of other smaller shops in the town and buy your food from the local businesses which are predominately family owned. Good way of improving your language skills and you will be blending in just nicely although you will in most cases have to use cash. Friday is the Market Day and the different markets areas are located in the town centre.
